Awards I Give...!!!

So, I've decided that there are way too many great sites out there that I wished for a long time I had an award or 2 to give out! So.. guess what?! Now I do! In fact, I have 4! *grin*. (As of May 26th, 1998) Each will be given for a different reason... I believe everyone deserves an award of some type for some reason if they fall under these categories:

The brighter futures for special kids award!"The Brighter Futures for Special Kids Award" is my award which is given to those sites that promote brighter futures for children with special needs. This may include sites that have one page off their whole site (or the full site) that is dedicated to children with special needs and includes information about a child and his/her condition, or a condition/disorder/disability in itself. Generally, it is a site that I find very interesting, and the information is presented in a clear, concise manner.

Special Needs ~ Special Kids great site award!I reserve this award for those sites that excel in content. This could include excellent information presented in a very easy to navigate manner, it could include a family's story of their child and that child's condition/disorder/disability, etc. The site must include excellent information and links that are chosen with care to suit the site content.

Disability sensitivity award! The Disability Sensitivity award is probably the one that I value the most. There are always going to be good, great, better and best sites out there, but not all will be sensitive to "disability". By sensitive, I mean the language used throughout the site always puts the person first; the language does not include those words that are degrading to persons who have disabilities; the author openly shows through his/her use of words, information, inspiration, etc. that he/she promotes disability awareness and is purposely sharing that awareness with others.

I hope for brighter futures for special kids award! This one is reserved for the special kids out there! I think every child needs to be shown that they are loved, respected and cared for, and that their contribution (whether the site be done by him/herself or someone else on behalf of him/her) does mean something, and their hard work does not go unnoticed!

NOTE: Please do not just take any of these awards!! They MUST be given to you by me! I am trusting all of you not to just pick one up and take it without it rightfully being yours! That would not be fair to all the recipients who have received my awards, and would thus downplay the significance of such awards! You are on your honor, and I have my trust in you. :) Thank you!

Please don't feel that you need to "apply" for my award. I feel that an award should be given to someone without that person having to ask for it. I welcome you to invite me to your site, and/or if you know of someone who you think deserves one of my awards, please suggest them to me! I will be more than happy to visit, and if you recommend someone, I will be sure to let that person know that you are thinking about them!

Thank you!
Jenn
